Gem Collector
🕹️ How to play
In this little space shooter game with a platformer feel, you navigate a spaceship around a distant planet, gathering gems while avoiding or shooting enemies that burst upon impact. Each time an enemy collides with the spaceship, it loses some shield strength. With every 1000 points you earn, the game gets faster and more enemies start showing up. You can control your ship with the WAD/ARROW keys, shoot with CTRL/K. However, best control you have with a gamepad. Pressing M mutes music, ESC will take you back to the title screen.
👉 Credits
The game you see above was originally created by RITZA especially for KABOOM. You can download their ebook HERE . I optimized their space shooter game and made it fully playable on the latest KAPLAY. I did not like the original spaceship graphics so I replaced it with free assets available here on ITCH.IO. I also added a nice-looking font and explosion effect. Sounds and music I left intact. While the game may not be very fun to play, bear in mind it was created for educational purposes only, i.e. to get you acquainted with KABOOM. You can learn a lot by studying other people's code, for example the many demos provided by KAPLAYGROUND, or the detailed and well written tutorials by RITZA.
💡 Did you know?
KAPLAY is a direct successor/fork of KABOOM. The original creator of KABOOM was laid off from Replit, where he developed the library. Following his departure and Replit's decision to stop actively pursuing Kaboom's development, the community forked the project to KAPLAY. Before integrating AI, Replit (founded in 2016) was widely used as a browser-based IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for collaborative coding, education, and rapid prototyping.
